President Feller called the meeting to order at 7:05 P.M.

B Judy Buffa expressed concerns about parking lot and traffic at the Cooke School.
Maritza Waknine expressed concerns about the Distance Learning Room.

C Medum Choe, student representative, reported on student activities.
PRESENTATIONS D1 Dr. Martin Handler, District Superintendent of BOCES was not present.

6:0 Upon motion by John Pavese, seconded by Eugene Nesin, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, the Board approved the minutes of January 27, 2005.

Superintendent, approved the following personnel items:
APPOINTMENTS Appointment of the following administrators for the 2005 Summer School Programs.
Monticello Secondary Summer School (grades 6-12)
Principal: Al Heins
Stipend: $9,578
Asst. Principal: Doug Murphy
Stipend: $7,225
Monticello Summer Learning Academy (grades 3-5)
Principal: Cindy Bishop
Stipend: $5,192
Monticello Summer Reading Academy (grades K-2)

APPOINTMENTS Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Monticello Central School District, pursuant to Section 3012 of the Education Law and in compliance with Part 30.3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, does hereby appoint Eryn M. Daves to a temporary position, in the Elementary Tenure Area, effective December 13, 2004 to June 28, 2005, at a salary of $36,109 (pro-rated), re-placing JoAnne Barrish
Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Monticello Central School District, pursuant to Section 3012 of the Education Law and in compliance with Part 30.3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, does hereby appoint RoseMarie VanEtten to a
probationary appointment in the Special Subject Tenure Area -
Education of Students with Handicapping Conditions, effective Noveber 29, 2004 to November 29, 2007, at a salary of $35,199 (pro-rated), replacing Lisa Nasuti.
Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Monticello Central School District, pursuant to Section 3012 of the Education Law and in compliance with Part 30.3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, does hereby appoint Lyndsey Lentini to a temporary position in the Elementary Tenure Area, effective February 10, 2005 to June 30, 2005, at a salary of $37,909 (pro-rated), re-placing Julie Furman.
Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Monticello Central School District, pursuant to Section 3012 of the Education Law and in compliance with Part 30.;3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, does hereby appoint Martin Benjamin to the position of contract sub bus driver at a salary of $13.38 per hour, number of hours to be determined by the Director, and 185 days per year, prorated, for a probationary period of 60 calendar days with benefits as per the Bus driver/Mechanic contract, replacing Al-berta Kiefer, to be effective February 14, 2005.
Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Monticello Central School District, pursuant to Section 3012 of the Education Law and in compliance with Part 30.3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, does hereby appoint Arthur Decker to the position of contract sub bus driver at a salary of $13.38 per hour, number of hours to be determined by the Director, and days per year, prorated, for a probationary period of 60 calendar days with benefits as per the Bus Driver/Mechanic contract, replacing Anthony Smith, to be effective February 14, 2005.
Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Monticello Central School District, pursuant to Section 3012 of the Education Law and in compliance with Part 30.3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the
Superintendent of Schools, does hereby appoint Tadeusz Tubiak to the position of contract sub bus driver at a salary of $13.38 per hour, number of hours to be determined by the Director, and 185 days per year, prorated, for a probationary period of 60 calendar days with benefits as per the bus driver/mechanic contract, replacing Paul Culver, to be effective February 14, 2005.
Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Monticello Central School District, pursuant to Section 3012 of the Education Law and in compliance with Part 30.3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, does hereby appoint Ricardo C. Giorgini to the
position of cleaner at a salary of $19,000 per year for eight hours per day and 260 days per year, prorated, for a probationary period of 60 work days with benefits as per the custodial contract, replac-ing Mary Silverman, to be effective February 14, 2005.
Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Monticello Central School District, pursuant to Section 3012 of the Education law and in compliance with Part 30.3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, does hereby appoint Santo Amato to the position of cleaner at a salary of $19,000 per year for eight hours per day and 260 days per year, prorated, for a probationary period of 60 work days with benefits as per the custodial contract, replacing Terry Stowers, to be effective February 14, 2005.
Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Monticello Central School District, pursuant to Section 3012 of the Education Law and in compliance with Part 30.3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, does hereby appoint Tom Hunt to the position of Hall Monitor at a salary of $7.31 per hour for 6.5 hours per day and 185 days per year, prorated, for a probationary period of 60 work days with benefits as provided, new position, to be effective February 28, 2005.
Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Monticello Central School District, pursuant to Section 3012 of the Education Law and in compliance with Part 30.3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, does hereby appoint Cynthia Nolan to the position of Teacher Aide, long term replacement, at a salary of $7.50 per hour for 6.5 hours per day, replacing Debra Walden, to be
effective January 28, 2005 to June 24, 2005.
RESIGNATION Roseann Durant, Hall Monitor at the RJK Middle School, wishes to resign effective February 7, 2005.

MUSIC IN OUR SCHOOLS MONTH RESOLUTION F2g
6:0 Upon motion by Robert Rosengard, seconded by John Pavese, Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, the Board
approved the following Resolution naming the Month of March “Music in our Schools Month:
Whereas, the study of music is basic to a complete education, provides the competitive edge for successful educational reform, engages students in individual and group activity, develops
creativity, problem solving, critical thinking and evaluative skills; and
Whereas, music education helps students acquire skills in the production and performance of music, as well as an
understanding of history and culture; and
Whereas, the Monticello Central School District is concerned with maintaining and improving school music programs for all
students, regardless of their socio-economic status or their abilities; and
Whereas, the Monticello Central School District strives to instill a higher level of awareness and knowledge of music; and
Whereas, the Monticello Central School District strives to support fine musical experiences through the participation of over 3000 students in the school’s music program; therefore
Be It Re4solved that the Monticello Central School District, with Superintendent Eileen P. Casey and members of the Board of Education, strongly support quality music education in the
Monticello Central School District and that all students, kindergarten through 12th grade, should have access to a well balanced,
comprehensive, high quality, sequential program of music taught by teachers certified in music education; and
Be It Further Resolved that the Board of Education recognizes and commends the Monticello Central School Music Department for their concern and efforts to enhance the quality of music
education in the Monticello Central Schools;
Therefore, the Monticello Central School Board of Education and Superintendent Eileen P. Casey hereby proclaim the month of March, 2005 as
“Music in our School Month”
And endorses this observance as an opportunity to support the purpose and practices of music education and encourages teachers, parents, students, and all citizens to participate.
