School Board elects new officers at Reorganization Meeting

July 2005 (back)

The Monticello Central School Board of Education, at its July 12 Reorganization Meeting, elected Alyce Van Etten, President, and Robert S. Rosengard, Vice President, for the 2005-2006 school year.

Mrs. Van Etten has been a member of the Monticello School Board since 1993 and served as Vice President of the Board from 2001-2005. In 2002, Mrs. Van Etten received the Mid-Hudson School Study Council Award for Outstanding School Board Service.

In addition to her contributions to the Monticello School Board, Mrs. Van Etten has been active in school board activities regionally and statewide. She has served as the voting delegate at the New York State School Boards Association Annual Convention. She has served as a delegate to the Sullivan County School Boards Association as well as co-vice president of that organization. She has also represented Sullivan County on the state level during legislative meetings and as the NYS Legislative Liaison for the Monticello School Board.

In addition, Mrs. Van Etten is currently a member of the Empire Zone Committee. She and her husband Jan live in the Village of Monticello, where they own and operate their family business, Van Etten Oil Company, Inc.

Mr. Rosengard, a resident of the Town of Bethel, was elected to the Board in 1997. During his tenure on the Board, he has been a frequent attendee at the New York State School Boards Association Annual Convention. In addition, Mr. Rosengard has served as an alternate delegate to the New York State School Boards Association Convention representing Monticello.

Mr. Rosengard retired from the Monticello Central School District in 1995 as Coordinator of English for grades 6-12. In addition, he has served as adjunct English professor for SCCC and Marist College. He is currently the host of Monday Afternoon Classics with Gandalf on WJFF. He is also the coordinator of WJFF’s Community Voices. He serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of WJFF and of Simons Pond Music Festival in Tyler Hill, PA.
