Richard Feller elected NY State School Board Association Area 9 Director

January 2006 (back)

Richard Feller of Forestburgh has been elected the Area 9 Director of the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA). His two-year term began Jan. 1.

NYSSBA provides advocacy, information, leadership development and services to school boards in support of their mission to govern the state's public schools. The NYSSBA Board establishes policies to supervise, control and direct the business of the Association.
As Area 9 Director, Feller represents school boards in Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Sullivan and Ulster counties on the NYSSA Board.

He also serves on the NYSSBA Committee on Board Operations, which considers how the Board of Directors will achieve its annual performance goals.

Feller has been a member of the Monticello School Board since 1989. He has served as president and vice president. He is also a member of the Sullivan County School Boards Association and the Mid-Hudson School Study Council. Feller received the Mid-Hudson
School Study Council's Award for Excellence in School Board Service in 1994.

Feller spent four years on NYSSBA's Resolutions Committee, serving as vice chairman and chairman during his tenure.

Feller owns and operates Richard Feller Designs, which provides cabinetry, furniture and custom interior woodwork services. He earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Rochester Institute of Technology, and did graduate work in psychology.

Feller and his wife of 27 years, Kathleen, a career math teacher, reside in Monticello. They have three children, the youngest of whom attends Monticello High School.
