Parent Portal functionality issue with 64 bit version of Windows 7

No Access to Parent Portal - Resolution Sought

Microsoft recently sent out its newest operating system and software updates. If your computer is programmed to install updates automatically (or if you have recently installed an update) you may be experiencing a problem accessing the Monticello Schools Parent Portal. It has been identified that the Windows 7 (64 bit processor) is impacting Parent Portal access. Monticello's technology department is working with the company that maintains the Parent Portal system to find a resolution. Please be patient as we work to fix this issue.

Parent TodayParent Today e-Newsletter and Website

The Monticello Central School District is offering parents a free resource to help them coach and support their children’s education from pre-k through high school. Parent Today is an e-newsletter and website that provides parents with the tools and information they need to be even more engaged in their children’s education.

“Research shows that engaged parents have a positive effect on their children’s school success. This includes improvement in attendance, attitude, homework and grades,” said Daniel A. Teplesky, Monticello Superintendent of Schools. “It is our hope the Parent Today e-newsletter will encourage additional parents in our district to become more involved.” MORE

How About Better Parents?

"...getting parents involved with their children’s learning at home is a more powerful driver of achievement than parents attending PTA and school board meetings...just asking your child how was their school day and showing genuine interest in learning...can have the same impact as hours of private tutoring. It is something every parent can do, no matter what their education level or social background.” MORE

"Why Johnny Won't Go to School"

October 13, 2011 - U.S. News and World Report - The symptoms aren't often alarming: headache, stomachache, fatigue. But they tend to come on weekdays, specifically when your child should be heading off to school. Psychologists call it school avoidance, and it can take different forms. MORE
