School News Notifier (SNN) messaging system adds text message service

Residents of the Monticello Central School District can sign-up to have text messages sent to their cell phones to notify them about early dismissals, inclement weather delays and other school situations. To add the texting feature, a registered School News Notifier (SNN) user just has to do update his/her profile with a cell phone number and carrier.

Log into the School News Notifier (SNN) system from the homepage of this website - at the bottom of the SNN page enter your e-mail address and password under “Returning Users” – add the new cell phone information and click “Update.” You can also update the selected notifications you would like to receive while in your profile.

Since the recent SNN upgrade, specifications for passwords have changed. This means if your password is less than six characters or doesn’t fit the criteria of the new requirements, you may be asked to change it.

Upgrades to this opt-in message system are part of the district’s ongoing efforts to improve student safety. Those who subscribe to this free service should receive a text message within minutes after the Superintendent makes the decision to delay or close schools. Families who do not have cell phones can continue to have closure notices as well as district and school news sent directly to their home and/or work computers.

Please note that the text messages will only be issued for school closures or delays. If you want to continue to receive news and information from the district or a particular school, it is recommended that you continue to subscribe to the e-mail notices as well.

Sign up to receive important e-mail messages and text messages with Monticello’s SNN system

Monticello Schools use the School News Notifier (SNN) electronic messaging system to help keep parents and the community more in touch with district news and school happenings. What is the School News Notifier?
SNN is an opt-in e-mail alert system where parents and residents can sign-up to receive e-mail messages from different schools or the Superintendent. You can also sign-up to receive school closure and delay text messages. Users can choose to receive any or all of the messages available and can change their choices or unsubscribe at any time. *Your e-mail address will be kept confidential*

How do I sign up for an account or update my existing profile?
Go to the SNN homepage linked from Monticello’s web site at www.monticelloschools.net and create a profile. You will need to fill in your name, e-mail address, cell phone number, cell service carrier and select a password. Once you create your profile, you will be able to select from which categories you would like to receive. Once you choose your desired notifications and click subscribe you will be all set. If you are already a subscriber but want to add the texting option, all you need to do is log in as a Returning User (at the bottom of the page) and update your profile by adding your cell phone number and carrier.
