District awarded technology grant

The project was designed to enable the district to address maintenance needs and upgrade key infrastructure. By making these necessary improvements, we will preserve the community’s investment in its schools. This summer, we will complete the first phase of the project which includes:

1. Replacement of the roof at Chase School;
2. Replacement of the roof at the High School including gym and auditorium (the size of the roof may require completion over 2 summers)
3. Replacement of the roof at St. Johns Learning Center;
4. Development of a new parking lot to serve the Rutherford School;
5. Replacement of Chase School paving and repaving of bus loop;
6. Renovation of room 200 at the High School and the creation of two rooms from what is now one large lecture room;
7. Remove and Replace Basketball Court at Chase School;
8. Replace two vehicle lifts, improve drainage, and repave parking area at Bus Garage. 
9. Renovation of High School Auditorium to provide air conditioning and new sound system.

We anticipate completing a districtwide telephone system upgrade during the fall.

At the time of the presentation of the project to the public, we indicated that the project would require to be completed over several years. We have listed below the schedule for the project.

Year 2
High School
1. Construction of two additional classrooms;
2. Renovations of the Home and Career and Art Classrooms;
3. Creation of an additional Science Classroom from existing rooms;
4. Upgrade of Fire Alarm, Master Clock and Intercom Systems;
5. Parking Lot Lighting;
6. Renovate Shot Put Area.
Rutherford School
1. Replacement of the roof;
2. Upgrade Master clock;
3. Replace curbs and sidewalks;
4. Repave existing parking area and lighting;
5. Pave connecting road from High/Middle School;
6. Install permanent sidewalk along connecting road from High/Middle School;
7. Redefine 2 ball fields and replace backstops.

Chase, Cooke and Duggan Schools: Upgrade of Master Clock System 

RJK Middle School: Back Parking Lot and Bus Lane Reconstruction

St. Johns Street Learning Center: Replacement of windows which do not operate or have failed thermopane seals. 

Year 3
Cooke School:
1. Roof Replacement;
2. Repaving of parking area;
3. Renovation of Main Office & Nurse’s Office;
4. Installation of perimeter drainage system;
5. Renovation of ball fields.

Chase School: 
1. Renovation of Main Office and Nurse’s Office;
2. Replacement of Library Windows with failed thermopane seals.

Year 4
Duggan School:
1. Roof Replacement;
2. Repaving of parking area;
3. Sidewalk and curb replacement;
4. Replacement of parking area lighting;
5. Redefine parking area to create additional parking.

High School: Track Replacement

We appreciate the support the community has shown for this project and we look forward to making the improvements to the buildings so as to provide our students with an appropriate learning environment. We will continue to update you as the project progresses.
