KLR students meet community leaders
Recently,
kindergarten and first grade students were visited by a number
of leaders in the community.
Personnel from the local police department, fire department, Mobile Medic, Crawford Library and post office talked with students as part of lesson on the needs within a community.
Students had the opportunity to view and explore the vehicles used by police officers, firefighters and paramedics. They were taught the importance of health and safety and not to fear those who are there to help.
Librarian Melanie Olson shared a few books and encouraged the students to come and visit her at the Crawford Library to receive their own library card.
Postmaster Debra Mack from the Monticello Post Office, along with letter carrier Diane, showed the students how a letter is sent, tracked and received. They also allowed the students to go inside a mail truck to take a closer look.
