State University College at Fredonia for my Bachelors and Ohio
State University for my Masters
Any awards/accomplishments? Any claims
to fame? My students and children who have gone on to
support and participate in Music is my claim to fame, they
aspired to this because of my accomplishments in education.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
Finding creative and unusual ways to help my students
find a passion for music.
Why did you become a music teacher?
I love music and I wanted to share that with children.
Did you do anything else before you
became a music teacher? NO
In your opinion, why do you think music
education is important?
Music and other Art forms is what puts the civil in
civilization. People need to be passionate about something or
apathy will rule the world. The study of an Art Form brings
discipline to a child’s life and builds the work ethic our
country was founded on.
How has music influenced your life?
Music gave me a focus. It was the common thread that allowed us
to build strong family ties. Music gives me an outlet when I
have to accept what I cannot control. Music is always there.
Who is your favorite musician?
JS Bach a close second, Domenico Scarlatti.
What CD is in your CD player right now?
Scarlatti Sonatas played by Vladmir Horowitz
What are your hobbies?
Gardening and Cooking.
What advice would you offer to an
aspiring musician?
Go after you dream. You never know, but be willing to rise above
failures and work hard.
