Name: Rachel Niegelberg

How long have you been teaching? Going into my first year!

Where did you go to college? SUNY Fredonia

Any awards/accomplishments? Any claims to fame? Graduated Summa Cum Laude

What’s your favorite part of your job? Watching students realize that they have figured it out!

Why did you become a music teacher? I find genuine joy in sharing my passion for music with others and watching them excel in an area of study that means so much to me personally.

Did you do anything else before you became a music teacher? No

In your opinion, why do you think music education is important? It is important to give students an opportunity to excel in an area of study and life that evokes creativity, passion and leadership and to give them a chance to find strength in an area outside of their core academic classes.

How has music influenced your life? Discovering my love and talent for music gave me a completely new sense of self-confidence. It helped me form lasting relationships, memories, and find a way to communicate my emotions.

Who is your favorite musician? Ella Fitzgerald

What CD is in your CD player right now? The Sparrows- It is my friend's folk band.

What are your hobbies? I'm an avid reader and game show watcher!

What advice would you offer to an aspiring musician? Attend every musical event that you can and participate in as many opportunities that present themselves (and when none are presenting themselves, go seek them out!)
