Interest-free payment deadline for school taxes extended through October 21 for Monticello taxpayersMCSD Business Personnel

September 29, 2011

NY State Governor Andrew Cuomo approved the penalty and interest-free extension to this year’s tax payment deadline for Monticello Central School District taxpayers. Residents will now have until 5 p.m. on October 21 to pay their school taxes without any added fees or interest.

Monticello Business Administrator Denise Cedeira-Thornton submitted the request as a way to help homeowners and businesses who are recovering from the damage and destruction caused by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.

“We realize that many families in our community are struggling to get by,” said Ms. Cedeira-Thornton, who is a lifelong resident of Monticello. “This extension will help our taxpayers during these tough times.”
