At the August 11 special meeting, Monticello Central School District Board of Education members unanimously appointed Denise Cedeira-Thornton as the new School Business Administrator for the district.
Ms. Cedeira-Thornton will officially begin in her new position on or before September 12 at a salary of $110,000. Part of her agreement with the Board includes a two year salary freeze.
“I am looking forward to working with the Monticello School community,” said Ms. Cedeira-Thornton, who is a lifelong resident of Monticello and a Monticello High School alumna (Class of 1982). “This wonderful opportunity will allow me to give back to my local community as we face the fiscal challenges ahead.”
Prior to Monticello Schools, Ms. Cedeira-Thornton worked as a school business administrator for the Monroe-Woodbury and Livingston Manor school districts. She also served as the district treasurer for Sullivan County BOCES.
Ms. Cedeira-Thornton is certified by NY State as a School Business Administrator. She is married to William Thornton, the school business administrator for the Eldred Central School District, and has two children, Kyle Raymond (MHS Class of 2009) and Cody Raymond, who is presently a junior at Monticello High School.
