RJK celebrates its graduates with inaugural Moving Up ceremony
June 2010
The Robert J. Kaiser Middle School
celebrated student achievement and said goodbye to its 8th grade
class with a Moving Up ceremony on June 21.
Teachers, administrators and families packed into the auditorium to
watch students receive their official middle school graduation
certificates. Although this year’s ceremony was the first of its
kind, according to RJK Principal Deborah Wood, the immense size of
the audience proved this type of event was very important and would
become a regular happening as part of the middle school experience.
Monticello High School Principal Arleene Siegel shook hands with
every student and welcomed them to the high school.
The day began with a barbeque luncheon and t-shirt giveaway for the
251 graduates and ended with a complimentary snack reception for
students and their families – all paid for by the RJK PTA. Music for
the ceremony was provided by the MHS chamber music group, Majek.
