New Assistant Superintendent Appointed to Monticello Schools
October 2009
Monticello Central School District
announces the appointment of Kenneth W. Newman, Sr. as the Assistant
Superintendent for Student Learning. He is filling the position held
by Ms. Kathleen Pagano-Fuller, who is retiring in November after
three and a half years with the district.

Prior to his appointment in Monticello, Mr. Newman was the principal
of the William S. Hackett Middle School in Albany, NY. While there,
he provided the school community with strong educational leadership
which helped create a more welcoming and supportive learning
environment in which students could thrive. Some of the programs he
helped implement were Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports
(PBIS), Parents Partners, Academic Achievement Club and Hackett
Community Cares Mentoring. During his time at Hackett, Mr. Newman
implemented numerous programs that increased student achievement
which resulted in the school being removed from the state list for
math.
“I am excited to be a part of the Monticello School community,” said
Mr. Newman. “I look forward to supporting the vision and initiatives
of the superintendent and the board of education.”
Mr. Newman began his career in education 11 years ago as a business
education teacher in Schenectady and subsequently as an assistant
principal at Oneida Middle School. Throughout his career, he has
been committed to the belief that all students can learn given the
proper tools and environment. He is also a specialist in data
analysis and program evaluation and development.
In addition to his diverse practical experience, Mr. Newman has a
strong educational background that includes a Master of Education
from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and a Bachelor of Science
in Marketing and Management from Siena College. Presently, he is a
doctoral candidate at NOVA Southeastern University and is working on
his dissertation.
He was recently honored with the “Next Generation Service Award”
from the Israel A.M.E. Church in Albany for his work in promoting a
healthy lifestyle among students and community members.
Mr. Newman serves as the pastor of the Holy Deliverance Church of
God in Christ in Renssealaer, NY. He has been married to his wife
Nicole for 18 years and they have four children, Kenneth II, Ashley
Nicole, Cameron and Sean-Michael.
