Monticello Schools Superintendent to be honored with NAACP Achievement Award

Monticello Schools Superintendent Dr.
Patrick Michel has been chosen by the Sullivan County NAACP to
receive its annual Achievement Award. The honor
will
be bestowed upon Dr. Michel and four other community members at the
NAACP Annual Awards Dinner, Saturday, April 24, 6 p.m. at Albert’s
Liberty House in Liberty. Tickets are $45.
According to NAACP Secretary Elaine Williams, Dr. Michel was chosen
for this award for his outstanding commitment to the community and
for his unwavering “fair and equitable treatment of all our
children.”
Dr. Michel has served the Monticello Central School District since
July 2005, first as the assistant superintendent for student
learning and then as superintendent. Prior to Monticello, he worked
for the Clarkstown Central School District in Rockland County as the
associate superintendent for secondary education. Before becoming an
administrator, Dr. Michel was a social studies teacher in the
Monroe-Woodbury School District.
