The Healthy Kids Extended Day Program provides before and
after school childcare to students in grades K-5 and offers
recreation, arts and crafts and academic programs. The
before school program begins at 6:30 a.m. and the after
school program begins at the end of the school day and ends
at 6 p.m. All three elementary schools in the district
participate in the program.
In February of 2016, Monticello Central School District received a grant which offers a limited number of spots at a reduced cost. Working families who need both before and after school care receive priority placement at the reduced rate.
“With many families having two working parents, we understand that finding affordable child care can be a struggle,”Superintendent of Schools Tammy Mangus said. “We are proud to offer our families the opportunity for safe and educational before and after school care right in their child’s school.”
According to the program’s website, The
Healthy Kids Extended Day Program is one of the largest,
most experienced and highest quality providers of extended
day child care in New York with programs in dozens of
elementary schools in Brooklyn, Dutchess, Orange, and
Westchester counties. The program’s directors and staff are
highly skilled, background-checked and credentialed; the New
York State Office of Children and Family Services licenses
and oversees its program.
